Ekklesia Action Plan

The Ekklesia is not a static organism, but one of action and growth. The Creator of all things, seen and unseen, has given the Ekklesia a course of action to follow. These are mandates to be carried out. It is our responsibility to seek God and confirm His timing for what we are to do and the method by which we are to do it. The work of the ministry is not for one or two people in the Ekklesia to carry out while others watch, rather, the work is to be undertaken by every saint to whatever degree of gifting the Lord has given and the Holy Spirit has empowered.

Christ gave us the gifts to build up the body. It is the Body of Christ that does the work of the ministry of the Kingdom of God. He Gave, To Equip, Until. It is up to us to seek God and discern His plan for us. Here is a summation of one way Christ has equipped us for the tasks at hand.

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

Ephesians 4:11 KJV

  • He: Christ
  • The “Who”: Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, Teachers

For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

  • The “Why”
  • To Equip

Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

      • To do what?

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my [church Ekklesia]; and the gates of [hell hades] shall not prevail against it.

Matthew 16:18 KJV

  • The “How”

  • The “What”
    • Being a servant of others in the body of Christ
    • Servant leadership included
    • Also, “equipping the saints for the work of the ministry, for building up the body of Christ,”

Questions to Consider

  • Am I called by God to fill one of these five ministries?
  • In which of these ministries do I currently operate, or have traits of in my life?
  • Which of these ministries do I see operating in my circle of believers?

We are expected to be witnesses of Jesus Christ to the world around us wherever we may be. Though we may not all be evangelists, opportunities will present themselves for us to activate the gift of evangelist, if only for that time. Christ gave the instructions to His disciples, and by extension, to us.

And as ye go, preach, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

Matthew 10:6-8 KJV

We are not expected to do these things in our own power. We have the confidence of Christ in us and the knowledge that He has all power. It is His power and authority that enable us to carry out His plan.

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

Matthew 28:18-20 KJV

It is the power of the Holy Spirit who indwells us and empowers us to walk in obedience in love to whatever the Lord calls upon us to accomplish for the sake of the Kingdom of God.

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Acts 1:8 KJV

We are called to be witnesses of Jesus Christ, to preach the Gospel of Peace to all who will hear it. The signs and wonders that accompany the message are the confirmation of the validity of the gospel and the love of God.

So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

Mark 16:19-20 KJV
